#CSDialogue with Sameer Maheshwary, GE Capital on Leading in the VUCA World

 VUCA, at a Glance

The dynamic and fast-changing nature of our world today is best described by VUCA. We are living in a world where volatility and uncertainty have become the New Normal. This is certainly the least that anyone can say of such dangerous and rapidly changing environments where not all the facts or inter-relationships can possibly be known and leaders have to operate without having all the facts or fully understanding the forces that may be influencing a situation.

We are clearly living in a new reality characterised by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity, and this new world is here to stay. For businesses to succeed in the future, leaders need to redefine the rightful role of business in society by pursuing responsible growth.
V = Volatility. The nature and dynamics of change, and the nature and speed of change forces and change catalysts.
U = Uncertainty. The lack of predictability, the prospects for surprise, and the sense of awareness and understanding of issues and events.
C = Complexity. The multiplex of forces, the confounding of issues and the chaos and confusion that surround an organization.
A = Ambiguity. The haziness of reality, the potential for misreads, and the mixed meanings of conditions; cause-and-effect confusion.
